Transshipment

Every day we transfer large product volumes from one mode of transport to another. For example, goods are transhipped from bulk to container or from sea-going vessel to coaster.

Transhipment often takes place several times within the supply chain. It could be that each party (connection) within the chain wants to receive the product in a different way or form. This means that the product has to be transhipped, for example, from bulk to big bag or from container to pallets.

Cross-docking

Cross-docking is the logistics process whereby incoming goods are immediately prepared as outgoing goods, without intermediate storage. The short lead time ensures that products reach your customer faster. In addition to speed, cross-docking has a major cost advantage. After all, no storage costs are incurred.
